Music Recommendation – Single – Lil Wayne ft. Bun B, Nas, Shyne and Busta Rhymes, Outro

Let me just start my first article featuring Lil Wayne with a little piece of information: I am not a Lil Wayne hater. I really don’t hate any artist, as I try to be open to any and all music. However there are some artists whose music/songs I tend to not like. But even still Lil Wayne is not one of those people.

Luckily for anyone who does not like Lil Wayne, this song does not actually have him in it. It was the outro to his album Carter IV (my favorite of his albums) and has some great verses on it. The hook-less track features a freshly-released Shyne after being in prison for over a decade, as well as my all-time highest ranking rapper, Nas. Busta Rhymes and Bun B both deliver huge verses and make this one of my rap favorites.

Overall, I give it a 9.25/10. Some very excellent verses (except for Shyne unfortunately) but no hook and these talents were saved for an outro instead of put on a single sadly. Still deserves a listen as it is often overlooked, here it is:

Music Recommendation – Single – DJ Khaled, Welcome to My Hood (Remix)

I listed the artists featured in the song below, as there are a lot. This legendary collaboration comes from DJ Khaled’s 2011 album, We The Best Forever. The first 10 ranked verses are pretty insane, and this 7-minute rap-fest is impressive all-together.

In the end, it was hard to rank some of these. Even at #6 I think Ludacris is one of the best verses on the track, but the others above him are still even better. T-Pain kind of ditches the hook after the first couple of verses, but it hardly changes the pace of the song.

Overall, I would rate the song at around 9.5/10. One of the best rap songs out there and highly underrated, Welcome to My Hood has a couple of disappointing verses but features some great talent from several notable rappers. Here are my rankings on the features in the song, which you can listen to below the list:

1. Ace Hood

2. T-Pain

3. Twista

4. Bun B

5. Busta Rhymes

6. Ludacris

7. Game

8. Jadakiss

9. Wake Flocka

10. Fat Joe

11. Mavado

12. Birdman

13. DJ Khaled

Music Recommendation – Single – Kelly Rowland ft. Mario, R. Kelly, Jeremih, The Dream, Busta Rhymes & Trey Songz

Motivation was one of my favorite songs for a while when it was popular in 2011, but the legendary remix featuring a handful or RnB greats found me over a year after I heard the original for the first time. I’m sure you can guess which version I prefer.

While I’m sure plenty of people have heard this one, I recently researched it to give it a final listen for a long time as I hadn’t cared much about the song for a while. It appealed to me so much yet again that I had to add it to my favorites playlist (my inspiration for many of these posts), and I felt it would be a good idea to write about it.

Each verse carries the same perspective of the guy in the original Motivation song. Kelly Rowland has little part in this remix, but her vocals help the other artists shine plenty. I almost feel bad for wanting to cut her out of her own song. More or less each RnB favorite brings their own version of sex with Kelly Rowland in the song, but Mario starts the song off so strong it almost puts your expectations for the rest too high. R. Kelly, Jeremih, and The Dream bring excellent vocals to their versions while Busta Rhymes’ verse is rapped in the usual Busta Rhymes manner.

At the end, Trey Songz caps the remixes edited together with a sound that comes close behind Mario’s entrance. He is the biggest reason to wait for the end of the song if you don’t like the start. His voice with Kelly’s makes this part sound more like a duet than the others.

My overall rating for this song is 9.5/10. Some of the vocals feel forced onto the original track and edited when they don’t need to be, but the sound is incredibly RnB and features one of the greatest collaboration in modern RnB. Give it a listen below and be prepared for a little bit of explicit content:
